David S. Atkinson's Author Site

Welcome to the web site dedicated to my writing.  Hopefully, everything you would want to know about me as an author should be found somewhere on this site- who I am, what I write, where you can read it, where I can be found, all that.  If there is something you want to know and don't see it, feel free to drop me a line.

I'm originally from Nebraska, though I have lived in a few other places and am now based near downtown Denver.  My writing is primarily fiction, mainly short stories and novels, but from time to time I do dabble in poetry and nonfiction.  More information on who I am as a writer can be found in the bio section.

What writers am I big on?  Well, I try to read as many different authors as I can get my hands on.  Sometimes I go through phases.  I was big on Kerouac for a while, though I became disenchanted with him a while back.  I liked a great deal of Bukowski, HST, J.P. Donleavy, Balzac, Celine, Palahniuk, O'Connor, Carver, Steinbeck, Hemingway, Hempel, Proust, Salinger, Chekhov, Dostoyevsky, Alexie, Yamanaka, Joyce, Silko, Pynchon, Toole, and so on.  Lately, I've been reading a lot of Murakami, Roth, and Keret.  As you can see, I'm all over the map.  Hopefully it shows in my writing, as I think you can learn something from most authors.  Check out my GoodReads page for more details.
